[PHOTOSTORY 4: STRUGGLE] Dead Battery Forces Driver to Seek Help

A car sits with its hood open in a parking lot as jumper cables lie on the ground nearby.
The driver, Jaylen, had already tried multiple times to start the vehicle before realizing the battery was dead and help was needed.

The hood of the car remains open, exposing the engine as the vehicle sits idle in a parking lot.
The driver had checked under the hood hoping to identify the issue but found no immediate solution to get the car started.

A driver leans into the car through the open door while attempting to start the vehicle again.
He had continued trying the ignition despite earlier failures, hoping the car would turn over.

The driver stands at the front of the car, holding the hood open while looking over the engine.
He had inspected the vehicle himself after it failed to start, trying to figure out what was wrong before seeking help.

Two cars sit side by side with their hoods open in a parking lot, preparing for a jump-start.
The driver had called for assistance after realizing the dead battery could not be fixed alone.

Jumper cables lie on the ground between two parked cars in a sunlit parking lot.
The cables had been brought out as a last resort after the car battery failed to start the vehicle.

Jumper cables are connected to the car battery as a driver begins the process of jump-starting the vehicle.
The cables had been carefully attached in the correct order to safely transfer power from another car.

A driver holds jumper cable clamps while standing between two cars with their hoods open.
He had prepared to connect the cables after determining the battery needed an external boost to start.

The driver reaches under the hood to attach jumper cables to the car battery.
He had carefully connected the clamps while following the correct steps to avoid damaging the vehicle.

A pair of hands holds jumper cable clamps just above the car battery, preparing to secure the connection.
The driver had positioned the clamps carefully to ensure a proper and safe connection before attempting to start the car.

The driver opens the car hood and connects the jumper cable to the battery terminal.
Jaylen opened the car hood and connected the jumper cable to the battery terminal.

The driver, Jaylen, holds the hood open while checking different parts of the engine for possible issues.
He had continued troubleshooting the car after the failed start, looking for any sign of what caused the battery to die.

Jaylen lowers the hood of the car after finishing his inspection of the engine.
He had decided to stop checking under the hood once it became clear the battery needed a jump to start.

Jaylen lowers the hood of the second car after completing the jump-start process.
He had finished disconnecting the cables once the dead battery regained enough power to run.

Jaylen continues lowering the hood of the second car as the jump-start process wraps up.
He had moved to close it after confirming the battery had successfully regained power.

Jaylen walks away from the cars with a visible sense of relief after the jump-start is complete.
He had finally gotten the car running after multiple failed attempts earlier.

Jaylen holds a phone to his ear as he calls his mom after getting the car started.
He had reached out to explain what happened after dealing with the stress of the dead battery.

Jaylen sits in the driver’s seat with the door open, reacting with a puzzled expression while on the phone.
He had listened as his mom responded in a way he didn’t seem to agree with after explaining what happened.

Jaylen sits in the driver’s seat with both hands on the steering wheel, smiling as the car runs.
He had reacted with relief after the engine finally started following the jump.

A close-up of the steering wheel and dashboard shows the gauges and controls functioning normally.
The car had returned to normal operation after the successful jump-start restored power to the battery.

A close-up of the dashboard displays a maintenance warning indicating service is due soon.
The alert had appeared even after the car started, signaling that additional issues might need attention.

[PHOTOSTORY 5: STRUGGLE] Students Struggling to Prepare for Finals

Junior economic majors Kelsey Barwick and Laura Iscoa gather in one of the IT Building study rooms. They shared notes as they began studying for finals.

Kelsey is clearly confused as Laura comes in closer to try to help her understand. Their professor gave them unclear information on their study guide.

Kelsey is very stressed and tries hard not to panic. She eventually persevered and was able to calm herself down.

Laura has a coffee by her side to give her a caffeine boost when needed. She says it helped her to focus and clear her mind so that she could attain information better.

Meanwhile, junior construction management major Mitchell McCullough sits beside them with music in his ears. Although he did not study with the girls, he too struggled because he had a paper to write.

Laura flips through her notes to move chapters. Kelsey was still talking to her about the previous lesson, trying to review.

Kelsey begins to remind Laura about this specific lesson, hoping it rings a bell. Laura listened carefully as she tried hard to remember.

The pair both take a moment to focus in on their personal studies. Another study room is spotted behind them as they are preparing for finals as well.

Mitchell keeps to himself during the study session as he wears his headphones and pays very close attention to his paper. He kept glancing back and forth from his paper to his professor's rubric.

Kelsey and Laura start to discuss personal life topics as they begin wrapping up. Laura laughed at a funny story Kelsey told her.

Other students in the IT building occupied the study rooms. Pictured here is another student writing on a board and studying from across the hall.

Laura packs her belongings since it's time for her to leave. She had to cut the study session early because she had to go to work.

As she leaves, she gives Kelsey and Mitchell a wave goodbye. Laura hopes to have more time later this week to keep studying.

Kelsey and Mitchell start a conversation amongst each other. Even though they're different majors, they still helped each other out since Kelsey has already taken some of the classes that Mitchell is currently in.

After working on his paper for hours, Mitchell finally takes off his headphones. A dent appeared in his hair due to how long he had them on.

Kelsey bids farewell to Mitchell and goes to catch a study break. She wanted to grab something to eat quick and then drive home.

She peers over the vending machine wondering which drink of choice she'll get this time. She ended up settling on a blue Powerade.

Her next stop was at the deli in the IT Building. She said that her usual order is a chicken bacon ranch sandwich on an asiago bagel.

Kelsey finally takes a fresh of air outside after a long day of studying. She was very proud of herself with the amount of work she got done.

As she starts to pack up her car, Kelsey realizes she finally gets to go home. The relief and satisfaction she felt after studying made her feel very productive.

A Bulloch County prisoner takes Seth for a walk. The Shelter has around 6 prisoners, at any given time, that feed, clean, and walk the animals.

Jodan Janik plays with Rose. Rose was brought in after she was found on the side of the road in Bulloch County.

Rose lays beside Jordan Janik as she pets her. Rose is a 90-day dog, so she gets extra attention and walks outside.

Jordan Janik talks about the play area. This area is for dogs to expend some energy or train to prepare for adoption.

Jordan Janik pets Lyra. Lyrai is another 90-day dog that gets extra time outside.

Jordan Janik scratches Lyra's chin and looks at her. Lyra was injured when she came to the shelter, but Fixin' the Boro took care of her until she was medically cleared to live in the shelter.

Jordan Janik carries Puddin inside to get a bath. Puddin is new to the shelter and is only a few months old, so he is still getting used to being around people.

Jordan Janik stands in the wash room. The dogs get regular baths from shelter attendants to prevent the spread of fleas in the shelter.

Food, toys, and bowls sit on a supply shelter in the wash room. This storage space holds everything the canine's might need at the shelter.

Puddin gets a bath from Jordan Janik. Jordan Janik said one of her favorite parts of the job is getting to take care of these animals who haven't experienced that in the past.

Jordan Janik inspects a flea comb. "He came to us with a lot of fleas, so we're bathing him and cleaning his fur regularly until they're all gone," Jordan Janik said.

Mr. Mighty sits in his outdoor cage with his toys right behind him. There are 18 cats in the shelter, but Mr. Mighty is currently separated because of his ear mites.

Amanda Anderson does work in her office at the front of the shelter. Amanda said that 15-20 dogs are adopted from the shelter every month.

Adabell, the office kitty, greets visitors at the shelter. Adabell is free to roam around the office and hallway, and even has a few cat trees set up just for her.

Supplies collect in the main lobby. The Animal Shelter accepts donations from the public and offers free supplies to those adopting animals from the shelter.
