[ENVIRONMENTAL PORTRAIT 1] Dr. Holly Cowart

 By: Jeff Riley

Dr. Holly Cowart is an assistant professor of multimedia journalism at Georgia Southern University.

"I've always wanted a swimming pool. When I was little I would be friends with other kids in my class just because they happened to have a swimming pool at their house. One of the best parts of moving to Gainesville, Florida to work on my Ph.D. was my apartment had a huge swimming pool, and it's so hot year 'round there that you can pretty much swim from March until November if the weather stays good. Now that we've got a house with a pool, though, I'm the one in charge of keeping it in good shape. It's mostly about keeping chlorine and Ph levels in a good range, otherwise the whole thing turns green. I wouldn't trade it for anything though. It makes the summer worth it."
