[PHOTOSTORY 1: OUTDOORS] What Savannah's "Back to Normal" Looks Like

Cars and trucks driving down River Street in Downtown Savannah on a lovely May weekend as pedestrians walk the street. There is still a mask mandate in place in Chatham County.


Couple, Mackenzie Freeman and Tyler Dodger, sit maskless alongside the river. Masks are no longer required outdoors at public gatherings. 

Locals and tourists alike relax in Reynolds Square. Public outdoor areas, like the square, are now open again with full capacity. 


Downtown goers take a break at Reynolds Square. 

A restaurant on River Street serves water for Savannah’s four-legged pedestrians. Pets are welcome on River Street. 

Art tables are once again set out in front of the river. Setups like this typically receive lots of engagement from the public, and were banned due to social distancing protocols. 

Woven roses and baskets set out for sale/display. Local artists are now able to safely share and sell their art again. 

Pedestrians fill River Street. There are now various events held alongside the river now that several mandates have been lifted. 

Tourists make a pit stop at the square to check their phones. People who are fully vaccinated can now go maskless, according to the CDC. 

The sun is out over Savannah, Georgia. This weekend was one of the hottest weekends yet, with a high of 93 degrees. 

The Georgia Queen docks along River Street. This is a frequent stop for the boat. 

Duncan Childers, a tour guide, taking a break at Reynolds Square. Private Tours were not able to run for several months due to the pandemic. 

Cars and construction cones fill the streets of Savannah. Several roads in Savannah, including Broughton and Montgomery Street, are currently closed for construction.
