The Food Bank of Statesboro is a community food pantry provided to help its people. "We are not fully open to the same capacity before COVID-19, but we are making it work, said the food pantry director Jodi Brannon."
This a sign of the different opportunities that the Statesboro community offers. Rebecca's cafe has been closed since the beginning of COVID but will reopen for the first time on June 10, 2021.
Jodi Brannon and some of the volunteers are meeting to discuss what needs to be done for the first pick-up. The Statesboro Food Bank is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m to 3 p.m.
A volunteer is moving perishable items to put them in their correct box. There is a variety of foods a family can receive when they come to the food pantry.
This is a storage closet the food pantry stock with different drinks. "Since we have been closed for a while, we have extra to go around."
This is another storage closet at the facility that stores the water they give to people who come to the food pantry. The Statesboro Food Bank does its best to restock on water because of its neccessity.

Jodi and the workers use this truck to get supplies from Walmart for the food bank. The workers go to Walmart about two times a week to keep up with how much they are providing to others.
Volunteers are unloading boxes that will be given to families. There is a specific list that the volunteers use to to fill each box.

Different food items are being separated into categories. The boxes are created based on the food avaliable at the food bank.
A volunteer just finished a phone call with somone coming to pick up food. For people to pick up food from the pantry they have to set up a scheduled time and the amount of food they need.
The Statesboro Food Bank advertises being vaccinated. They encourage their clients to get vaccinated by giving them the opportunity to earn $5.
Some of the perishable items are being stored in this area. It helps volunteers know what they have avaliable before sorting begins.

Volunteers and workers are taking a break after sorting through boxes. There was comradory about what they would eat for dinner, it would be oxtails!
A client is arriving to collect food for redistribution. Randy is a regular client of the Statesboro Food Bank and he takes outdated food and distributes to farm animals.
The workers are loading food onto Randy's truck. It is easier to distribute the food when it is sorted and boxed for the clients.
The volunteers are loading the food boxes on Randy's truck. There is a specific process that has to be done in order for the process to go smoothly and efficiently.
The volunteers work closely together like family to get the loading completed. Randy's truck held about 60 boxes of perishable and non-perishable items to serve those in the community. |
