Amy Houghtaling is a wife, mother of 3 and a grandmother of 2 from Richmond, Virginia.
“I thought that being a mom was my favorite thing in the world until I became a grandmother. I came down to Georgia to help my daughter Danielle, because her husband is in the Army and was deployed to Germany a few months back. The deployment was unexpected, and my daughter was so upset because at that time she was 5 months pregnant with her second child. She had no idea what she was going to do with a toddler, a puppy and new born on the way. I knew I needed to help her out, so I packed my stuff and here I am! It has been really hard watching my daughter struggle without her husband, but it has also been one of the biggest blessings of my life to be able to help out with my grandson Thomas and brand new granddaughter, Avery! I love being able to be a part of their lives and watching them grow! Every single minute of it has been great, even if the circumstances that brought me here weren’t ideal. The good news is that my son-in-law is supposed to be coming back from Germany in about a week, and he will finally get to meet his baby girl! I can’t wait to see the smiles on everyone’s faces.”
