[PHOTOSTORY 1] Beatin' the heat at the Bark Park

A gazebo outside of the dog park. Pendleton King park also has a tennis court, walking trail, and many other outside activities. 

Michelle trying to get the attention of her dogs with a frisbee. The Bark Park is a great place for owners to bring their pets to play and to meet other dogs.

Two of Michelle's dog's, Jack (left) and Pepper (right) drinking from a portable water bowl. "I brought them here to see how they are around other dogs." said Michelle.

Sakari is a 10 month old Husky puppy, she is also one of Michelle's dogs. By the time she's a full grown adult, she'll way around 40 pounds.

Sakari, Sewanee, and Jack sniffing each other. Dogs do this to determine if the dogs is friendly and if it's male or female.


Sakari running around in the shade while Michelle watches her. Sakari is deaf so she cannot be given verbal commands, instead Michelle uses a series of hand signals to tell her what she wants Sakari to do.


Michelle and her daughter sitting with the dogs. "Wish there was more grass here, but it's still a nice place to let them run around and stuff." Said Michelle

Erin throwing a frisbee for her dog. There were multiple balls and frisbees laying around throughout the park for people to use with their dogs.


Sewanee catching a frisbee mid-air. "She loves playing catch but she'll guard that frisbee with her life." said Erin. 


Sakari walking up to Sewanne after she's caught the frisbee to get in on the action. Huskies are known to be friendly around other people and dogs. 


Sewanee jumping through a tire. There were ramps and other things for the dogs to play and exercise on at the park.



Pepper, a nine year old Dachshund or "wiener dog", attempting to trot up a ramp after a long day of playing. "The only thing that motivates her is food." says Michelle.


Erin attempting to teach her dog to balance on a seesaw. She used the frisbee to motivate her to get on the ramp.


Ariel greeting Jack near the back end of the park. "He's usually pretty friendly unless you have a hat or something on." said Michelle.

 Michelle and Ariel having a conversation while Ariel get's some cold water for the dogs. She didn't want them to drink out of the pool so she filled up a separate water bowl. 

Doc, Ariel's dog, getting some water after a long car ride. Doc is "full of energy even though he's only two." said Ariel.


Jack standing by the pool while the other dogs cool off. The dogs seemed to enjoy the water the most.


Sakari taking a dip in the pool one last time before she has to leave the park. Michelle is happy that her puppy, "seems to enjoy being out in public."
