The homeless population in Dalton, GA has been growing rapidly over the past few years. A lady is sitting outside of Junkman and Son's with all of her belongings on the sidewalk next to her.
There are a lot of programs in town that are designated to help the homeless and the struggling population. Greater Works Community Outreach was established in 1996 and provides meals and food to impoverished people.
In front of an elementary school, a man was riding his bike all the way down a busy highway. On his back, all he had was a backpack.
The Food Center is part of The Salvation Army which provides a variety of programs to people in need. The Food Center is the program where people in need can go and get food for meals.
Outside the food pantry is a man. Laid out on the bench are trash bags filled with clothes.
The City of Refuge is a non-profit organization in Dalton that has been helping struggling and homeless families since 1995. The City of Refuge provides services such as clothing, housing, education, and food.
In downtown Dalton, a man is walking with a backpack on his back. In his hand blocked by the backpack, he is holding a cigarette.
Also in downtown Dalton, a man sits on a bench. Next to him, he had been holding a sign that said "HELP MY KIDS".
At a gas station on Thornton Avenue a man digs through the trash cans. The bags had been taken out of the cans and the man was picking through the bags of trash.
This is Dalton's most recent second-hand store that has multiple locations across the U.S. This is one of many second-hand stores in Dalton that make clothing more affordable for homeless families or individuals.
Another second-hand store in Dalton is Providence. This is one of the two Providence locations in Dalton.
On a wall inside Providence is a sign that tells customers that two items can be taken per person, free of charge. Underneath the sign is a table where items can be donated to help those with no money, but nothing was on the table.
Outside the door at Providence is a sign that gives directions to a men's shelter. The men's shelter has a goal that is to help homeless men turn their lives around and in their exchange for living there they must meet daily with the staff, stay clean of drugs, and be actively looking for a job.
Outside of a Walmart a man was laying with his dog and a sack of his belongings. This Walmart is always very populated and lots of people drive by the spot where he is laying.
Around the corner from the Walmart lay a woman on the sidewalk. Next to her she had a TJ Maxx bag and her head propped up on a duffel bag.
