[ENVIRONMENTAL PORTRAIT 3] Regan Klovstad

 By: Grace Drawdy

Regan Klovstad, Starbucks Barista

As Klovstad looks forward to her 2 year anniversary of working for Starbucks next month, she looks back on her favorite parts of the job thus far. "My coworkers for sure [are] the best people," said Klovstad. One drink, however, has remained her tried and true throughout her times here as a barista. The shaken oat milk espresso is Klovstad's favorite drink to make for customers. "They're not the easiest [to make] but they're pretty fun to shake it up and stir it before serving."

[PHOTOSTORY 2: MOTION] - Hitting the Gym

 By: Alden Barbour

Madison Abel enjoys spending an hour or so daily at her apartment's gym.

Abel typically starts her workouts on the rowing machine.

She maintains focus and balance while on the machine.

She plants her feet steady on the ground when lifting weights.

Abel is not picky when it comes to workout attire, "I honestly would rather just wear a t-shirt."

Abel shared that she "would rather do arm workouts than legs. There is nothing worse than leg day."

Abel's outfit choice for this gym day was a Beech Mountain t-shirt, gym shorts, and Hoka tennis shoes.

Abel shared that "going to the gym every day just makes me feel better about myself."

She was wearing her clinic shoes during her workout because she had left her regular workout shoes at a friend's house.

Powering through, Abel focuses on her goal of a few more minutes.

Next up, the bike is one of Abel's favorite pieces of equipment in the gym.

"I enjoy looking out the window and watching while on the bike," said Abel.

"I have a Peloton at my parent's house, so this is the next best thing when I'm in Savannah," said Madison.

Almost done! Madison counts down the seconds until her ride is complete.

Riding in style! Clinic shoes make for good workout shoes too.

Abel winds down the workout on the treadmill.

"I like to spend 30 minutes on the treadmill at the end of every workout, said Abel. It helps me to stretch."

Luckily, Abel had the gym to herself.

The last few minutes of the workout. Abel lowers the speed, as she ends her walk.

Abel reaches the end of her walk, wrapping up her workout.

Shelley Harris does toe-touches. This is one of the many warm-up exercises the class has to do before getting started.

American Killer Bees instructor Curtis Scott demonstrates the correct stance to do a proper jab. If one does not have the correct stance, it is easy to get injured when kickboxing.

Dillon Dunn sets his stance before doing a jab. The jab Dunn is doing is part of a leg lunge to stance-to-jab combo the dojo does to incorporate a full-body workout into the fitness session.

Curtis Scott looking over the members' plank stance. To engage the core it is important to keep the body parallel to the ground to feel the burn.

Dillon Dunn takes a break from the jab combos. There are over 32 kickboxing combos that can be performed on and off the mat.

Curtis Scott counts down the seconds before the end of the jab combination. Scott walks between the bags to motivate all his members especially when the workout gets hard.
