[PHOTOSTORY 3: ADITL] Dominican Republic Missions Team

 By: Kate Rentz

The team arrived in the Dominican yesterday and woke up to pack rice and beans that they will be giving out to families they visit through the week. The team packed over 400 bags, with each bag containing enough to feed a family of four an entire meal.

Ava Canamare plays with the school children while they're outside at recess. "I love playing twith the children, it's definitely my favorite thing that I've done on this trip."

Two girls line up to go inside for class time, laughing. They were all very curious about the camera and wanted their pictures taken.

Two boys pose as they wait for the Bible story to start. The team set up in the schools lunch room to talk about Jesus and sing worship songs.

Rachel Wiggins laughing as children are playing a game with balloons. Each age group had a game specific to their ages and interests that the team planned with the Hispaniola Mountain Ministries (HMM) director, Micheal.

A little boy screaming the lyrics to a worship song. The Dominican Republic is predominately a Christian country, they even have the Bible on their flag.

Maria, laughing and singing along as her friend is screaming the lyrics to their favorite songs. This school was about 15 minutes from the compound.

The view from outside the school. The Dominican is a naturally beautiful country, with mountains that run straight into the crystal clear ocean.

This is the teams second school of the day. This school was about 20 minutes from the HMM compound.

Levi Whitley reenacting the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus. He played Zacchaeus because in the story, he was short and the team decided that Levi was the perfect fit, since he was the shortest male there.

A high school girl laughs as Micheal tells a funny story. Al of them are very familiar with Micheal, as this is the only high school in Barahona and his daughter attends school here.

Micheal's daughter, Maria pictured praying as Micheal prays over the teams time here. The teams last school was the local high school.

Luiz, a sophomore, praying as Micheal prays. It is very common for them to pray during school hours because almost everyone in the DR is a Christian.

Ava Canamare reads the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus, again for the high schoolers. The team read this story three times, each at different schools.

Carla translates for the team at the local high school. This was Carla's first time being a translator and she wants to continue to pursue translating for HMM.

Bess Moore leads worship during a church service the team planned. "I have never experienced worship like this before. It's so eye opening."

Worship broke out into a dance party as the families that gathered sung one of their favorite songs, Hermoso Momento. This is translated to Beautiful Moment, and is very popular in the DR.

EG Deas and a little girl worshipping during the church service. The team bonded with the local children around the compound through their entire stay and each child claimed their own "Americano."

Sophia Kona telling a story from the Bible as the teaching for the church service. Micheal translates into Spanish for those who don't understand.
