[PHOTOSTORY 1: OUTDOORS] The 3rd Annual Touch a Truck

Bulloch County Fire Department fire fighter Kattie Lowds helps kids get inside the station fire truck at the 3rd Annual Touch a Truck. The department is reaching out to the Statesboro community in efforts of connecting with the people in the community.

The Bulloch County Fire Department fire fighter Kattie Lowds makes sure kids are safe inside the fire truck. Each child had the choice to walk throughout the truck learning about how these fire fighters protect the community.


  Lowds carries the kids out of the truck to ensure they are safe while learning the inner workings of being a fire fighter. The Bulloch County Fire Department have attended this annual event every year. 


Kids enjoying the experience of being inside the fire department fire truck. Some of the kids in attendance have never experienced being inside or up close to a fire truck until this event.  


Georgia State Patrol trooper lifting up kid at Touch a Truck. This is the second year the Georgia State Patrol have partnered with the Bulloch County Public Works to come out for this event.

 Child at the event amazed by the patrols flashing lights on the cruisers. The Georgia State Patrol rolled into the event with multiple cruisers for everyone to enjoy taking pictures around.

Bulloch County Emergency Medical Service hand out bags to the kids and parents at the event. The Bulloch County Emergency Medical Service educated everyone in attendance on what they do.


 Officer Bowon of the Bulloch County Animal Control explain to the kids how they catch animals. Bowon makes sure to explain the department seeks to keep the community and animals safe in these situations. 


The Bulloch County Animal Control give out fun items to the kids at the event. The department also hand out information to parents about ways of reaching out to the department in case of an emergency. 


Officer Bowon talks to everyone about the body camara she wears during an emergency call. All of officers in the department wear these camaras in the line of duty. 


 Grandparent helps out their child on top of the construction machine. The Bulloch County Public Works brought out many machines for families to interact with at the event. 


 Parents help their child down from the massive public works machine. Machines like this were showcased to show the community what keeps Statesboro running properly.

 Officer with the Bulloch County Sheriff Office hold one of their senior K9 unit dogs. This dog recently transferred to the force two years ago.  


Officer Bowon of the Bulloch County Animal Control explains to parent's certain programs the department offers. One of these programs including registering your own dog in case they go missing
