[PHOTOSTORY 3: ADITL] Angie Roderiez day on the clock

 By: Chance Lucas

Angie Roderiez clocks in for her shift at the time station near the chip aisle. She’s been with Food Lion for over two years and says, “Every day I walk in, I try to bring a positive energy to the front end.”

Angie chats with a fellow associate Joe Parks before the store gets busy. Her coworkers say she leads with kindness and sets the tone for a supportive team environment.

Angie taps through a touchscreen monitor while assisting at a register. As front-end manager, she oversees customer service issues and helps troubleshoot tech and checkout problems.

Angie laughs with teammate Jayden Daniels while checking a transaction at the front register. “Helping customers is what I love most—but making my coworkers smile comes in close,” she said.

Angie assists an elderly customer at her register with a transaction. She believes treating everyone with patience and respect is the foundation of great service.

Angie smiles as she bags a customer’s groceries at the checkout line. She says the busiest days are when she’s “most in the zone” and finds joy in helping things run smoothly.

Angie concentrates while reviewing the stores revenue data during a customer checkout beside night manager Diana Starks. Even in the middle of a rush, she remains focused, saying, “Staying calm helps keep the line moving and the customer happy.”

Angie restocks a display of colorful lollipops at the end of a register lane. “Little touches like these bring a smile to a child’s face—and that matters,” she said.

Angie monitors the self-checkout area as customers scan their items. Part of her job includes making sure self-checkout flows efficiently and stepping in when someone needs help.

Angie hands a package of meat to a customer at the end of a transaction. “I always want customers to leave feeling taken care of—like they matter,” she said.

Angie pushes a line of shopping carts through the parking lot in the afternoon heat.
Even as front-end manager, she’s not afraid to step outside and help with one of the most physically demanding jobs in retail.

Angie returns carts to the corral as she connects them together. She says being hands-on with every task helps her understand the needs of her team and keep operations smooth.

Angie browses the meat section while holding a package of steak. Part of her role includes checking for product freshness and assisting customers who need help locating items.

Angie helps a shopper make a selection in the beef section. “I love getting to help people find exactly what they need for their families,” she said.

Angie places produce on a shelf while holding other grocery items. Her daily responsibilities stretch across departments, wherever an extra hand is needed.

Angie straightens a case of bottled water near the front of the store. She often pitches in with restocking to make sure high-demand products are available and well-organized.

Angie checks the temperature gauge on a refrigerated unit in the back of the store. She performs regular safety checks to ensure food items are stored properly and meet quality standards.

Angie unlocks her assigned locker while preparing to leave. At the end of her shift, she reflects on her day’s work and makes notes to follow up on the next morning.

Angie glances at the schedule and safety board near the employee area. She uses this space to stay updated on shift changes and important store policies before clocking out.

Angie steps out of the store and heads toward the parking lot as her shift ends. “Whether I’m helping customers or supporting my team, I just try to make the day a little better for someone,” she said.
