[PHOTOSTORY 4: STRUGGLE] - GRANDPA, DEMENTIA AND THE TIME WE SHARE

 

Grandpa Edwin McBean is walking around to the house. Nowadays with him getting down in age, he spends so much time just walking around the house without any reasoning. 

Grandpa is sitting at the table, waiting patiently. His kids and helpers usually start his day off with tea and a light snack for breakfast, but he has a full meal for lunch. 

Grandpa Edwin McBean is finishing his piece of corn in his lunch meal. Everyone usually takes out his food for him and assists him in eating. 

The plate is clean with no food left on it. Grandpa said the rice and corn was good but the chicken was his favorite part of his lunch. 

Grandpa Edwin McBean is taking a sip of his drink. He drank his favorite drink, a Caribbean drink called Sorrel. 

Grandpa Edwin is getting some help finishing his drink. His thought process is always finishing the food first and then finishing his drink last.

Ms. Maurna Davis is helping Grandpa up out of his seat. He usually needs help doing some tasks like getting up the stairs or getting out of his seat. 

Ms. Maurna Davis is cleaning up rice grains off the floor from Grandpa's lunch. Ms. Maurna is Grandpa's helper, helping him with things like medicine and moving around throughout the day. 

Simone Nantambu is wiping down the countertops of Grandpa's house. She is Grandpa's first daughter, she always helps him around the house with things he cannot do. 

Simone Nantambu is mopping up the kitchen of the house. She tried to get every corner of every square on the kitchen tile. 

Grandpa Edwin McBean is taking a peak out of the window. He looked at the front yard as cars pass, this is one of his favorite things to do throughout the day, just observe. 

Grandpa Edwin McBean is adjusting his pillows before sitting on the sofa. He said he wanted to go out for the day but was too tired to do so. 

Grandpa Edwin McBean is watching the news on TV. He usually likes to watch either the news, Animal Planet or old-time cowboy shows. 

Ms. Maurna Davis is giving Grandpa Edwin a hand as they walk through the house. He said that he has to use the bathroom, possibly indicating a diaper change. 

Grandpa Edwin McBean is checking to see who's at the door. Simone was at the door with the rest of his medicine.

Grandpa Edwin McBean is getting assistance taking his medicine for the day. Before he took his afternoon nap he had to take his pill and his shots for the day.
