Everyone is starting to gather for the Stand Against Fascism protest. The protest began on Madison Square in downtown Savannah, GA, and was sponsored by the Savannah Indivisible group and the ACLU of Georgia.
A car goes by with a flag out the passenger's window and honks at the gathering crowd. The car went around the square a few times, show support to the protestors.
Everyone holds up their signs proudly as a speaker comes up to talk to the protestors. The main sign in focus got a lot of laughs from everyone around.
There is a speaker talking to the protestors before the march begins and giving encouragement. Kristi Cullens (left) and Kayli Henry (right) felt very motivated by what the speaker was saying. Kayli says that the unity she's seeing right now with everyone there today is encouraging and makes her have hope during these horrible times.
Kristi Cullens is wearing her protest shirt. "Abbreviate the first letters of each word and you'll get it. It stands for something that we've all been saying lately," she laughed.
People are chanting and marching while holding up their signs. "I'm sick of this crap. Enough of the MAGA horror show, we want our country back and out of the dictator's hands," exclaimed Mary Gardner.
The Portland Frog is out with the protesters showing solitary. The original Portland Frog is the activist Seth Todd, and is known for wearing an inflatable frog costume during anti-ICE protests in Portland Oregon. Now people will dress in the costume as a way of showing they are anti-ICE.
The protesters are about to start the march towards the City Hall. One of the speakers is telling everyone to disengage if anyone tries to heckle or taunt them while they're marching.
The march has begun. Everyone is chanting: No violence, no hate, immigrants are welcomed here!
The protest is going through the streets of Broughton. A worker on top of one of the buildings cheers in support.
Sarah Davis is smiling as the new chant is, "Every city, every town, fuck ICE, shut it down!" She is from Chicago, but was visiting family in Savannah this week, and decided on a whim to come to the protest.
Sarah is chanting along with the other protestors. "I'm exercising my freedom of speech right now, and it feels so good. This is the best I've felt in a while. I'm definitely going to go to more of these!"
Lauren Hanks is waving a miniature American flag while cars go by. "My husband served for this country, and so did my son. How dare the government treat our veterans and citizens this way! This is not the America I knew and loved anymore."
The protestors have made it to Savannah's City Hall. The chants are ringing loud and clear above all the cars driving by.
Bethany Allred (right) is trying to start a new chant going in the protest. The new chant she's doing is: "Hey hey, ho ho, Donald Trump has got to go!"
People are clapping along to the chanting. The chanting and clapping keeps growing louder as everyone is joining in.
Tim Aikens holds up his sign he created. "As someone who has health conditions, it's been so scary to see that our healthcare coverages are getting cut. And guess where that money is going instead? To fund the thugs on our streets called ICE!"
A group of drummers are playing their instruments during the chants. Eric Henderson talks about how we have to be loud and use our voices right now. We can't be complacent during these scary times. (Far right)
The protestors are heading back to Madison Square, where the protest began. Cars are honking in support and yelling out the windows.
A lot of the protestors are back on Madison Square, and a guitarist is playing "God Bless America".
"And I mean "God Bless America" as in we need help Lord! Evil is everywhere, and our leaders are trying to kill us. We need you to save us." says Mark Anderson, the guitarist.
