[PHOTOSTORY 2: MOTION] Post-Dinner Walk.

 By: Sammie Van Landingham

Colby bends down to fasten Bogey's leash before the evening walk outside the garage. "Walking the dogs after dinner has become part of our daily routine and gives us time to unwind together," Colby said.

Dana follows Colby as they begin their evening walk with Max and Bogey through the neighborhood. The mother-and-son pair make time for evening walks with the dogs as part of their daily routine.

Colby leads Bogey toward the street while Dana follows with Max as they leave the driveway. The family makes time for a walk nearly every evening, no matter how busy the day has been.

Bogey stops to investigate the bushes while Max waits nearby for the walk to continue. "If we don't let them stop and sniff, they'll try to pull us back to every spot they missed," Colby said.

Bogey wanders toward the middle of the road while Dana keeps Max close to the curb. The neighborhood's quiet streets make it a favorite place for the dogs to get their daily exercise.

Colby and Dana continue through the neighborhood as Max and Bogey explore along the roadside. The dogs often alternate between walking beside their owners and stopping to investigate new scents along the route.

Colby runs across the intersection with Bogey as the pair picks up the pace during their evening walk. "Bogey always gets excited during the walk, so sometimes we have to run with him to burn off some extra energy," Colby said.

Colby tosses a tennis ball down the street as Bogey watches and waits to chase after it. "Bogey could play fetch for hours if we'd let him," Colby said.

Bogey stands in front of Colby while waiting for his next command during a training break. Colby reinforces basic commands like "sit" and "stay" during walks to keep Bogey mentally engaged.
Bogey waits with a tennis ball at Colby's feet before another game of fetch begins. Adding short play breaks during the walk helps keep Bogey active and gives him something to look forward to.

Dana pauses while Max investigates the base of a pine tree along the sidewalk. Giving the dogs time to stop and sniff helps make the walk more stimulating than simply covering distance.

Colby and Dana make their way back through the neighborhood as the evening sky begins to darken. The after-dinner walks have become a simple routine that gives them time together while making sure Max and Bogey get daily exercise.
Bogey pulls toward a row of hedges to investigate a new scent while Colby waits nearby. "He always has to check every bush before he's ready to move on," Colby said.

Dana waits while Max stops for a bathroom break beside the road. Short stops along the route give the dogs a chance to relieve themselves before heading home.

Colby jogs ahead as Bogey matches his pace down the neighborhood street. Mixing short runs into the walk helps burn off some of Bogey's extra energy.

Colby pauses while Bogey catches his breath before continuing the walk. Taking breaks throughout the route helps keep the dogs comfortable during longer walks.
Colby throws a tennis ball across the street as Bogey races after it. Playing fetch at the end of the walk gives Bogey another chance to exercise before returning home.

Colby and Dana turn into the driveway with Max and Bogey after finishing their evening walk. The family ends each walk by bringing the dogs home to settle in for the night.

Colby leads Bogey toward the garage while Dana follows with Max. By the end of the walk, both dogs have exercised, explored the neighborhood, and burned off their remaining energy.

Colby and Dana guide Max and Bogey back inside after completing their evening routine. The daily walks provide exercise for the dogs and a consistent way for the family to spend time together before the day ends.
