[PHOTOSTORY 1: OUTDOORS] Up in the mountains

 By: Vala Theodorsdottir

Petur Einarsson is checking the air in the tires to make sure everything goes smoothly. About to head up further up the mountains.

Just like Petur, Bjarni Hardarsson is making sure that the right amount off air is in the tires. With him are his two son's Gudmundur Bjarnason and Dagur Bjarnason.

The view at this beautiful day. There are 9 cars traveling together in this trip with a couple of people in each car.

John Chapman lives in England and is visiting Iceland for a couple of days and asked for a picture in the snow. "I've been wanting to come to Iceland for many years and I finally got the chance to come, and I love it so far."

Svanlaug Nikulasdottir is Petur's wife and is making sure everyone is in a good mood, keeping the energy up. "I'm just here for the fun I love traveling and being around people, so what better way then combining the two (as she said laughing)."

Decided to stop for a little photo break and stretch, since the car ride is long. Halfway to the final destination where the night will be spent in a little cabin.

There is Bjarni Hardarson, Sigridur Ragnarsdottir, and Julia Halldorsdottir enjoying the scenery and take a little break from the car ride. Sigrdiur is Bjarni's wife and Julia's best friend and have they travelled all over the world together.

Gunnar Haraldsson, Birnir Larusson, and Jonas Jonasson chatting about how the cars are doing and about good old times. They have been friends since they were in kindergarten so they know each other in and out.

Two of the cars in frame surrounded by snow and the sun peeking through the mountains. The red car in the picture is a very old car called Ford Bronco that has been renovated, the retro look still shines through though.

There is the Bronco again and the owner is about to hop in and keep driving. He has his friend with him for company.

Bjarni brought a snowmobile with him for the trip and is about to go for a little ride. The silver car is his car and he changed the whole car himself from the original, thats what he does for a living change cars for himself and other people.

A little pitstop before arriving to the actual cabin where the night will be spent. These red little houses are for anyone who is driving this way for people to stay the night, but you have to pay for the night of course.

Checking if everything is safe and nothing will pop down and fall underneath the cars, the ice to brake underneath, so they will get stuck. Teamwork is the dreamwork.

All the cars in this trip right there lined up together. These kinds of trips are very popular in Iceland, driving up to the mountains/glaciers.

Sævar Skulason's hobby is photography thats why he tagged along on this trip, not because he likes the big cars and driving. Most of the other guys on this trip are solely because they love driving their big trucks and testing how far they can go.

Here it is, the little cabin where everyone will be sleeping in together. People cook together, drink, and have laugh together and enjoy each other company before they go to bed.

That's how the cabin looks from the side. It's not big but it is enough space to fit everyone, just more cosy to have it smaller.

The cabin itself and all the cars are there and everyone is ready to go inside to eat and drink and relax. "This is always a lot of fun, arriving to the cabin crack a beer open and chat to people and enjoy each others company," Bjarni said.

The view right before the sunset. Watching the sunset is always so fascinating and pretty.

There is the beautiful sunset, even prettier in the snow. Everyone is just relaxing at this point after the long day of driving, and recharging for the day after.
