[PHOTOSTORY 2: Motion] Quick games of 21

 By Davon Johnson

Tyree Brown, (L to R) Jayson Simmons, Demetris Johnson, and Matt Brooks are ready for a pick-up game of 21 at the Cambridge apartments. This is a sunny Thursday afternoon in May.

John Miller (L), Tyree Brown (M), and Matt Brown (R) talk to each other about who will win the game. They are all very competitive when they play basketball.

John Miller guards Tyree Brown in the first position of the game. He is not making life easy for him to score the ball.

Tyree Brown is open at the 3-point line and attempts the shot. "I would say I am a shooter, so if I am open, I am pulling it."

All the players look at the ball to try and get the rebound. Everyone has scored some points up to this point and trying to pull away from the other.

John Miller (L) and Matt Brooks (R) fight for the rebound. They are both close to getting 21, so this is an important board to get.

John Miller (R) is defended by Matt Brooks in a close game. Matt wants John to shoot because he does not believe he will make the shot over him.

Matt Brooks shoots the mid-range jump shot while the other players watch. Some of them are getting ready for the rebound, so they can have a chance to win the game.

Demetris Johnson gets the rebound and lays the ball back up right away. The play was so quick that the other players did not have time to react.

Demetris Johnson shows off with a one-legged shot. He has been behind the whole game, so he tries to do something different.

Matt Brooks does a floater in the lane to get his point total to 20 points. He is in the drive-seat to win this game.

Matt Brooks gets his free 3-point shot to win the game. He focuses on the basket and lets off a beautiful shot.
The basket goes in. This was a good game for everyone involved.

Matt Brooks goes under a shady tree and catches a drink. This was a hard win by a tough competitor.

Tyree Brown (L) sizes up JayR (R) for one more game of 21. JayR has just shown up after watching the last game conclude. Some of the other players have left.

Tyree Brown shoots a mid-range jumper right over his opponents. They all watch as the shot leaves his fingers.

JayR (L) smiles at Matt Brooks while he takes his jump shot. "I knew he did not have his legs under him and was tired, so I did not believe he would make too many shots this game."

Matt Brooks (L) jumps up to defend the shot by JayR (R). This game has been taken over by JayR, and he is almost at 21.

JayR gets an uncontested lay-up to win the ball game. This was a lop-sided affair.

JayR (R), Matt Brooks (M), and John Miller (R) are heading home. They will play a rematch tomorrow when everyone is rested.
