[PHOTOSTORY 1: OUTDOORS] Ashana checks her mailbox

 By: Brianna Brown

Copper Beech resident, Ashana Roy, takes her daily walk to the mailbox. “These shoes are what I would typically wear on my walk,” Ashana said.

Ashana is walking on the sidewalk swinging her keys. All residents are given a key to their mailbox

Ashana prepares to cross the street. The mailbox is on the opposite side of the complex for residents who live in phase
Ashana waits for the car to pass by before crossing. Pedestrians do not have a designated crosswalk

Ashana has safely crossed the street. “I get nervous crossing that road sometimes, I wish there were speedbumps here,” she said.

This is Ashana’s favorite view on her walk. The mailbox is right around the corner.

Ashana mentions that it would be nice to stop at the pool afterwards. “Normally the gate is always open,” she said.

She arrives at the mailboxes. The mailbox numbers correspond with your apartment number.

Ashana searches for her mailbox. “I still get tripped up with the numbering sometimes,” she laughed.

Some of the mailboxes are always left open. “I always wondered why people left their mailboxes open for other people to see,” she said.

Ashana begins to open her mailbox. “Sometimes it’s a little hard to open,” she explained.

Her mailbox is open. There are only a few letters in there.

Ashana reads the names that are on the mail. She wanted to make sure that the letters were for her and not her roommates.

Ashana puts the letter back in the mailbox. Nothing was in there for her.

Ashana ties her shoelaces before walking away. It is time to walk back to her apartment.

The pool gates are locked for cleaning. Ashana wanted to stop by the pool after checking the mail.

Ashana crosses the street. The road was not as busy as it was on the way to the mailbox

A look at the street Ashana lives on. “I’ve always enjoyed walking more than driving, it’s something about being outside,” she said.

Ashana is going up the stairs. “Even though I had no mail, at least I got my steps in for the day,” she said.

A closer look as Ashana walks up the steps to her apartment. “ I wish they would fix my stairs, I’ve tripped going up these things so many times,” she said.
