This is Mckeithen's True Value Hardware Store in Statesboro, Ga. True Value is a chain hardware store that can be found all across America.
Harmon can be seen unhooking a trailer from the U-Haul. "U-Hauls are not that simple of a process but I like doing them and I feel very comfortable driving the truck." Harmon said
To take off the trailer turn the red handle to raise the hitch off of the ball that is on the vehicle. "Sometimes this is a little tricky because the trailer can be heavy sometimes." Said Harmon
Harmon is seen getting into the U-Haul to pull the truck away from the trailer, and back into its designated spot. "Driving the truck is fun but sometime tricky when having to back it." Harmon said.
Inside, Harmon is filling out a sheet to report anytime they drive the U-Haul to keep track of their hours. "We get about 6-10 U-Haul rentals and reutrns per day. I like to get them in and out." Harmon Said.
This is a shipment that just arrived a True Value. Gideon must move the U-Hauls so the trucks can get into the unloading zone.
Harmon proceeds to pull forward while the trailer is disconnected. U-Hauls are nation wide company and Statesboro is lucky Mckeithen's offers them.
Harmon positions the truck at the right angle to reverse the U-Haul truck in the right space. "Working at True Value is super easy and the staff we have feels like a family to me."
The trailers have their own spots on True Values property. "Each type of U-Haul is group together to keep everything organized for us." Harmon said.
Backing up the U-Haul into the parking spot makes it a faster process to get the customer out of the parking lot. "The best part about this job is learning and experiencing new things everyday.
These trucks are kept near the same parking spaces for less confusion on located specific trucks if needed. "Once in the spot, I make sure all of the U-Haul is locked, including the back door of the truck." Harmon said.
These are the two current trucks at True Value right now. No single day is the same because trucks are constantly being moved every single day.
Different types of U-Haul trucks like these two are parked and ready to be rented to customers. "People have the ability to walk in and rent a U-Haul and they don't have to return it to us. Just another U-Haul site."
This U-Haul was then rented out again 30 minutes later. At the end of the day U-Hauls are set to be rented out for in the morning.
Pallets are collected frequently so at certain times we may have 15 pallets at one time. "We collect so many pallets that sometimes we let people take them off our hands for free." Harmon said. Harmon reassures the trailers stand is back on the ground hold it up. Understanding the process of U-Haul's is very important for employees of Mckeithen's True Value Hardware.
Harmon then goes back into True Value to finish filling out paper work for the U-Hauls. All customers must sign a contract before renting a U-Haul.
