This is Cool Beanz Espresso Bar, a local coffee shop in downtown Statesboro. Many people come here to study, have interviews, and just to relax in a welcoming environment.
Cool Beanz has many different types of coffee and this is their espresso machine. Lots of college students enjoy drinking espresso, so Cool Beanz is the perfect place to come.
This here is Emma Jane, a 21 year old geography major at Georgia Southern. "I have been working here at Cool Beanz for a month. I used to work at Starbuck's, but the quality is way better here." said Jane.
Jane is waiting for customers to come in so she can greet them and take their order and make their coffee. "Even though you do everything from start to finish, it is a super simple process that you can usually make a friend out of at the end."
A customer walked in so Jane is logging into the POS to take their order. "Coffee at Cool Beanz is way cheaper then you will find at most coffee shops." said Jane.
The customer is deciding on what he wants and Jane is showing him the freshly baked goods on the display. "I always like to promote the baked stuff because they are just too good to go to waste."
The customer finally has placed his order and Jane begins to input it in the system to take his payment. "I get really excited here because this is when I am able to start making the coffee." Jane said.
Grabbing a cup to start the customers order, Jane gets all her equipment ready to make the drink. "Making the drink is the fun part because you never know what the customer will order."
Pouring in a flavor shot of vanilla, requested by the customer, Jane is doing this all so effortlessly. "The first week I worked here I definitely messed up, but once you know the "lingo", it becomes easy." Said Jane.
At Cool Beanz, Jane makes a glass of iced coffee, the cool brew perfect for the summer. "Enjoy the chill," Jane says, giving the chilly glass to a customer wanting the cold drink from the heat.
Jane, an Effingham County native, confidently navigates the bustling environment of Cool Beanz in Statesboro. "I moved from Effingham for school, and somehow, I found myself here, in this amazing café," she says with a smile across her face..
Jane is seen making the espresso machine steam, which is what you must do after making a drink, it also steams milk as well. "This is my favorite part because it makes a cool sound and it is something I wish I had at my home." Said Jane.
Jane then has her coworker, Dalton, step in to help her make drinks for more customers walking in. "It is great having someone to work with because the job is a lot less stressful working together." said Jane.
Jane hands the finished product to the customer and waits for a reaction so if she needs to know how to improve. The customer was satisfied with his drink and was happy with the taste and was off to work.
More customers started filling Cool Beanz the later the morning got. "We are busy before 8 a.m because that is usually when people are about to go into work, so they usually need a "pick me up"." said Jane.
Jane and her coworker work together to get orders made so that customers can get to where they need to be fast. "Working at a coffee shop isn't always chill but definitely better than working at Starbucks with a drive through."
Jane is seen taking another customers order and recommends her go to drink. "My go to drink is an eagle eye which is our name for a cold brew with one shot of espresso. I also like to add vanilla and mix butter pecan with some cinnamon." said Jane
A pile of rich, coffee beans are ready to be brewed into a delicious treat. "These beans come from all around the world which is what makes our coffee so unique." said Jane.
Freshly baked goodies line the display at Cool Beanz, tempting customers with their amazing smell and inviting looks. "Our pastries are just as loved as our coffee," Jane says, pointing towards the baked goods on the display.
After every one leaves, Jane is able to go outside and begin cleaning the tables and chair and put them away. "This is my time to relax and reflect on a busy day of work. I can't wait to come back tomorrow." Said Jane.
