[PHOTOSTORY 1: OUTDOORS] - Engaging with Neighbors

Ms. Shaw is taking care of her backyard garden. "Now that I'm retired I start off everyday at 8 am sharp, no days off."

Ms. Shaw is adding pine straw to her garden. She mentioned it keeps moisture in the plants in such a hot summer.

Sunflower seeds are shining almost 7 feet tall in the air. These sunflower seeds look depressed in the winter time.

Without using a box cutter this time, she opens another bag of pine straw. "To fill up the full garden this takes some time, luckily I get deals on pine straw."

Mr. Thomas is helping lift pine straw to Ms. Shaw's garden. He usually helps Ms. Shaw out with things she can't carry or repair before he starts his work.

Ms. Shaw is making space for her solar powered light to put in between her pine straw. She had made space for about 12 of these before going in.

Mr. Thomas is packing up the hose for Ms. Shaw. Shaw watered the plants earlier but stopped to get more pine straw.

Mr. Thomas is looking through the plants for any weeds to spray. Ms. Shaw started spraying her plants four times a year to prevent any weeds.

Mr. Thomas is taking his tools he needs to work out of the truck. He started off by taking out little things like his tools before he took out big things like ladders.

Mr. Thomas is picking out a few flowers before leaving. He thought this was a perfect pick because his wife's favorite color is orange.

Sunflowers are blossoming in the garden. These were the last flowers to start waking up this summer.

Mr. Thomas is closing the gate to the garden. "One thing Ms. Shaw doesn't play about is her garden, she keeps it all locked."

Mr. Thomas is packing up his truck. He took a little longer than when he was unpacking because he said it was dirtier than usual.

Mr. Thomas is unscrewing a breaker panel. He got a call from his dad about a burned circuit breaker.

Mr. Thomas is installing the new circuit breaker. "Thankfully, we didn't have to replace the entire panel today, this single breaker was the problem."

Davin is putting on slides to go play football in his front yard. "Football is a big thing in our family, whenever my dad finishes working we always throw around the ball."

Davin is chasing the football. He launched the ball back after dropping three straight passes.

Davin is throwing the football. He didn't want to watch them fix the breaker panel until he seen his grandpa started to work.
Mr. Thomas' dad is screwing the breaker panel back into the wall. Mr. Thomas' dad was the first in the family to get into trade, passing it to his son.

The other Mr. Thomas is checking the circuit breaker. "Even if it's your son doing the work you have to make sure it's done right."
