[PHOTOSTORY 3: ADITL] Summer Sales Associate

 By: Emily Potter

Kalie Robbins pulls her car into park, as she prepares to clock in for her shift. Robbins is 19 years old and works a summer job at Cheeky Bliss Boutique.

Robbins removes her seatbelt and stores away her sunglasses. She has to park far away from the store so customers can have front row parking.

Robbins is sporting a casual outfit paired with comfy sneakers. When you work in retail it is important to dress trendy but also comfy.

Robbins walks into the colorful front doors of Cheeky Bliss. The doors are decorated in the spirit of the Fourth of July holiday.

Robbins immediately puts away her personal belongings in the back. All sale associates and key holders have a designated spot for any items they bring into work.

Robbins grabs her store phone and name tag, and wears it around her neck. All sale associates are provided with a store phone that helps them look for items in inventory while on the sales floor.

Robbins clocks in for her shift. Today she worked a closing shift from 2:45p.m. to 9:00pm.

She reads carefully over her task list to see what needs to be completed for the day. The task list is a list with duties that must be completed by the end of the day and is checked by every employee.

Robbins cheerfully helps a customer pick out a shoe. "My favorite part of my job is helping the customers that come in."

Robbins searches for the right size shoe in a sea of shoe inventory. The back of the store has a small office space and is where all of the shoe inventory is kept.

Robbins straightens up the clearance rack. The clearance rack is changed weekly and has to be managed daily.

She carefully straightens the rack with precision. Having a rack with evenly spaced out hangers helps customers shop the racks easier and it is more appealing.

Dusting away, Robbins is seen using a swifter duster to reach low places to dust. "Dusting is a daily task we do everyday, it is also my least favorite task to do. I don't know anyone who likes to dust."

Robbins checks out an employee. When checking out an employee all sales associates are required to ask the customer "did anyone help you out today?"

Robbins helps a line of customers at the register. On busy days, there will be two staff members on register to help with long lines of customers.

To keep fitting room mirrors spotless, Robbins sprays and wipes down every fitting room mirror. This is a nightly closing duty of the sale associates.

She carefully organizes the jewelry on display. "We have to organize all the jewelry every few hours because this is our most shoplifter items."

Robbins reaches for a stack of hangers. Every night an associate packs the hangers that are left over from he day to ship back to the Cheeky Bliss warehouse.

Robbins neatly folds a display shirt for sale. Maintaining an appealing display is important to bring customers into shop.

Robbins brings down the gate of the store as her last task of the day. Cheeky Bliss closes on Friday's at 8 p.m.
