[PHOTOSTORY 3: ADITL] Hikers Capture the Wild

 By: Peter Heissenbuttel

A group of hikers begins the day's trek through a wooded trail with cameras and backpacks ready. The team spends weekends exploring national parks to photograph landscapes and inspire others to enjoy the outdoors.

Ethan Carter raises his camera toward a towering rock formation while Jacob Miller waits farther down the trail. Natural features such as cliffs and boulders help the photographers show the scale of the landscape.
Members of the hiking team stop briefly to enjoy the mountain scenery before continuing their trip. The group says spending time outdoors together is just as rewarding as creating photographs.
Ethan Carter carries his camera while Noah Brooks and Jacob Miller photograph the mountain view behind him. Each person looks for a different angle so the team returns with a wider variety of images.

Ethan Carter steps carefully through a fast-moving creek while protecting the camera gear at his side. Photographing remote areas often requires the team to cross water and navigate slippery rocks.
Ethan Carter adjusts a camera mounted on a flexible tripod beside the creek. He positions the camera low to the rocks to capture the movement of the water from a different perspective.
Ethan Carter holds up a wet hiking shoe after stepping into the creek. Small problems such as soaked clothing and equipment are common when the group works close to waterfalls and streams.
Ethan Carter checks the camera settings while standing on a large rock beside the water. Reviewing exposure and focus in the field helps him correct problems before the group leaves a location.
The hikers continue across an open overlook while Ethan Carter photographs another member of the group. The final stop gives the team a broad view of the surrounding forest before it ends the day's shoot.

Jacob Miller records the hike with a smartphone mounted on a handheld stabilizer as Ethan Carter follows behind him. The stabilizer reduces camera shake and produces smoother video while the group is moving.
