"I have to first connect everything to record." Grace Malson begins setting up her workspace to work on the song she is recording.
"I can hook up my microphone and make vocal tracks as well". Grace Malson hooks up her microphone to her computer to record her vocals.
"Now I hook up my MIDI, which allows me to record different instruments using the piano keys and adjust certain tracks". Grace Malson sets up the rest of her music software to begin working.
"I write down what comes to mind when I play my chords". Grace Malson writes her own lyrics and chords while sitting at her piano.
"I like to use voice memos to record the melodies I come up with". Grace records her voice while playing the piano to remember her melodies for later use.
"This is my QChord. It can play a variety of instruments and has an electronic strumming pad". Grace uses her QChord to add chimes and sparkly sounding notes to her song.
"I can use my MIDI to add my electric guitar track to my software". Grace plays her guitar and adds some strumming tracks to her song.
"I can adjust the reverb, modulation, and volume with these sliders". Grace Malson adjusts the guitar tracks she just recorded using the slider tool on her MIDI.
"These pads can start a clip, add a beat, play a sample, and many other things". Grace Malson uses the touch pads on her MIDI keyboard to layer in sample recordings of instrumentals and test timing.
"I can use some of my samples from my computer and link them with my MIDI to play in real time". Grace Malson uses previous samples of her playing the piano to build a part of her song.
"I am recording my instrumentals first and adding them to Ableton Live". Grace Malson plays her flute and records her melody to later use when filming her music production process.
"I use my tripod to hold my phone when I record". Grace Malson sets up her filming area to record a TikTok video.
"I use my ring light for better quality and lighting on my videos". Grace Malson sets up her ring light as she prepares to film herself singing.
"First, I record the process of adding my vocal layers". Grace Malson begins her TikTok video with her singing the melody of her song as well as vocal layers.
"Now I am going to add in some synth melodies with my MIDI keyboard". Grace Malson adds in her synth melody live while recording on TikTok.
"I am hooking these samples up to my MIDI pads so I can layer in previous recordings while recording my TikTok". Grace Malson uses her samples stored on her computer to play on her MIDI pad while she produces her song live.
