[PHOTOSTORY 3: ADITL] Teacher turns to second job to combat rising costs

Brittany Newberry is focused on her work on the computer as she hopes to leave by 3 p.m. Brittany Newberry has been teaching and working at the rec department for 10 years.

Brittany Newberry is talking to one of her coworkers on the phone about the things that need to be done before the season starts. Brittany Newberry spends over 12 hours a day at work during the school year on top of spending time outside of school to grade papers. 


Brittany Newberry grabs papers she sent to the printer that contain schedules for the upcoming football season. Brittany Newberry has spent her own money multiple times on her classroom, and she said her coworkers have done the same. 



Brittany Newberry laughs at her coworker's joke as she grabs papers from the printer. According to the National Education Association the rise in teacher salaries has not kept up with the rise of inflation. 



Brittany Newberry is converting the information from the paper into an excel document. Brittany Newberry previously taught 1st grade at Miller Elementary School last year.
